Financial Audit Services staff members audit state agencies and higher education according to the professional auditing standards adopted by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the standards issued by the U.S. Government Accountability Office. These audits focus on whether state entities have adequate controls in place to ensure accountability over public funds and compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and grant agreements. In addition, information technology auditors and professionals analyze computer systems at state agencies to ensure data integrity and security, and to provide data analysis assistance and support. Approximately 65 percent of the employees who work in Financial Audit Services are certified public accountants. The auditors operate from the main office in Baton Rouge with staff located in New Orleans, Lafayette, Monroe, and Shreveport.
